The recent Tour De France has certainly inspired us here at Datscool to think about going cycling. And even purchasing a brand new shiny bicycle. But what happens when you live in a tiny apartment and there is no where to store the new bike without it being stolen or tripped over?

Here is a great solution from Knife and Saw – a groovy solid wood shelf! Not only does it hold your bike, but there’s also room to put what you like on the shelf – be it books or flowers.

It has been designed to fit most bikes with the standard slot size of 1.75? and the clearance needed underneath the topbar at 17? apart is 1.5?. The shelf is suspended by a steel square rod mount and attaches to the wall by sliding and screwing into two wall studs. It comes in two colours: walnut and ash.

Price: USD$270 – $300 + shipping

Jory Brigham learnt woodworking from his father at an early age and built everything by hand. His unique style has come from a combination of skills handed down and his own more modern artistic ability. We love the clean lines and simplistic style of the Torino.

Dats cool loves the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin speaker system for your iPod so we are super excited about the Zeppelin Air!

We loved how the original Zeppelin had great sound dispersion which meant that your tracks simply filled the entire room – surround sound at its best. It’s the awesome shape of the speaker system we have to thank for that we are thrilled to hear that the Zeppelin Air takes this to another level with some tweaks to the internal system.

What’s more? The Zeppelin Air allows you to stream audio from any of your Apple devices without having to attach it to the dock. No wires and looks awesome? Definitely welcome in my house Zeppelin Air!

It’s hard for us to imagine a world without electricity these days and it seems we take it for granted that it turns on at a flick of a switch. Not until that dreaded electricity bill arrives do we even think about the cost of flicking that switch let alone how much it costs to run a lamp.

This coin lamp designed by Jethro Macey is activated when a coin is inserted into the slot and stays on for a pre-determined time. Not only does it have a great sleek look, perhaps will have us considering the cost of turning on a lamp.

Fit to mow the lawn of a country club, the Husqvarna Panthera Leo lawnmower is only a concept but we’re hoping that it gets to the production line soon. It has three adjustable blades and a sensor that will recommend the cutting speed and height of your lawn. All this information is detailed on an LCD display next to an ergonomic steering wheel. The Panthera Leo is powered by a rechargeable lithium-phosphate battery which last about two hours of cutting.

Now you see now you don’t. This driveway conversion from Cardok allows you to keep your car underground saving space and preventing your beloved machine from being stolen or damaged.

All you have to do is press the remote control, and the Cardok starts to lift, revealing the additional parking space inside. Within less than thirty seconds, the Cardok is completely open. For safety, the remote control has a simple ‘hold-to-run’ operation, meaning it stops the instant it is released.

The cardock can safe working load of three tonnes. A Range Rover weighs approximately 2.7 tonnes.

Philips breaks new ground in the realm of home entertainment with the world’s first cinema-proportioned LCD television. Cinema 21:9 lets you enjoy movies as you would in the cinema and just as the director intended. Cinema 21:9 boasts a 56” screen that is shaped in the 21:9 aspect ratio, so movies in the 2.39:1 format completely fill the screen – exactly as you experience at the cinema. Complimentary three-sided Ambilight Spectra combines with the on-screen action to completely immerse you in the movie and deliver the ultimate home cinematic viewing experience.

Traditional LCD televisions compromise on this experience by distorting the picture to fill the screen – losing the full scope of the original shot – or by displaying the picture in letterbox format with black bars at the top and bottom. Cinema 21:9 solves these issues to give the viewer an uncompromised and absorbing cinematic viewing experience, never before available in the home.

Using highly advanced formatting technology, regular 16:9 content from sources such as TV broadcasts and games consoles is also adapted to fill the 21:9 screen.
